Singapore Photography Services

The media scene in Singapore is highly unregulated. You do not need to have a specific licence or certificate to be a so-called professional photographer or videographer. This means that any Tom, Dick and Harry could potentially become a "photographer or videographer". Many newbies have been trying to penetrate the market by lowering their prices in an attempt to get the jobs. Whether they can get the job done well is another question altogether.

At Harmony Essentials, we believe strongly that our photography and videography services have to be fairly priced (not the highest nor the lowest) so as to ensure quality results and services can be delivered to the clients to hire us. The lowest hourly rate in the market can be under $200 an hour while the highest hourly rate is limitless. Some companies quote $400/ $500 an hour for their services. Our rates range from $200-280 an hour as that is the sweet spot that we find works for us, to allow us to provide services without compromising on our quality - which is the most important in our view.

The question - how to choose a Photographer or Videographer in Singapore still begets to be answered, and here is my answer to that:

1) Start with a budget and be reasonable about it. Taking into account that photographers/ videographers work do not include just the on-site work. Their fee should cover their transport costs and post photo/video-taking costs where they would be spending a significant amount of time editing the media. Always buffer a little more for your budget since there is a chance of having the photography or videography session extended. You would not want a scenario where you are limited too much by your budget either. Do not just go with the cheapest vendor as quality service and results are in my opinion more important than just the price itself.

2) Speak with a few companies and preferably the Photographer or Videographer with your requests clearly presented. If you have a specific location you'd like to have your photoshoot that is highly controversial like a cemetery (feat Harmony Tee taking wedding images at the cemetery), better to make known your requests right from the start so that you can see if the videographer or photographer is aligned with what you want.

3) Review the Company
Check out the company's background including the testimonies and past work to see if it is something you will like for yourself.

Choosing the right photographer isn’t just about asking “How much?” or “Who’s available?” — it’s about alignment. With your vision, your personality, and the story you want to tell.
When you find someone who checks the key boxes above — style match, credibility, good communication, clear terms — you’ll be on the path to images that feel real, joyful, and timeless.
