Sending floral wreaths or care packs to express condolences towards a friend that just lost someone dear to them is a warm gesture. There is usually a message card that comes with these items and if you're unsure how to write the message or what to include in it, read on.

The message is usually addressed to the surviving family members of the deceased meant to provide them with some grief relief.

The opening goes like this:

  • If you only know the deceased - Dear family of [decedent's name];
  • If you know a specific family member - Dear Mr/Miss XXX

The main body of the message can contain:

  • Please accept our deepest condolences for the loss of [decedent's name] or [relationship of deceased to the specific family member];
  • I am deeply saddened by the news of the loss of [decedent's name] or [relationship of deceased to the specific family member], I pray that God will grant you strength and comfort during this difficult period. My sincere condolences to you and your family.
  • May our Lord bless and comfort you and your family during this time of grief. Please accept my sincere condolences.

The sign off is usually by the sender of the floral wreath of care pack and care be as simple as:

  • From [sender's name] or [company]

The above serves only as a guide to writing a condolence message card. The list is not exhaustive and if you have a customised message, do email us or drop your request at the check out page!
